The Road Home Coat and Blanket Drive

In the month of November 2014, Cowboy Pledge sponsored a coat and blanket drive for the benefit of the Salt Lake City Road Home homeless shelter. Residents and members of the management staff and maintenance teams in each Cowboy Properties apartment community in the greater Salt Lake City area were invited to donate new and gently used winter coats and clothing and or blankets to help The Road Home in their mission of caring for those in need.
In response to this invitation, bags and bags of coats, blankets and warm clothing overflowed the collection bins that were located in each apartment community clubhouse or office. Generous residents and staff members donated over 400 items. On November 25, 2014 Cowboy Pledge volunteers gathered at the Liberty Midtown Apartments Club room to sort and bag the items for delivery to the family shelter that is located in Midvale, Utah.

Twenty six blankets, quilts and warm fleece throws were folded, labeled and placed in new bags. More than a hundred coats and a large number of sweat shirts, sweaters and jackets for men and women and teenagers were also sorted and packed. Residents also donated a lot of children’s and infants coats and baby clothing. Other items included pants, shirts, blouses, shoes, boots, hats, gloves and other winter clothes.
The Road Home expressed their gratitude for all of the donations and was especially thankful for the blankets and fleece throws that they really needed and could use immediately. Cowboy Pledge hopes that everyone who donated items of any kind had an opportunity to share in the good feeling of helping others in need.
